Ian Douglas Martin Arrives

Two weeks early and after 25 hours of labor Ian Douglas Martin was born at 7:50 pm on Saturday, June 28. He was 8 lbs 8 oz and 22.5 inches long. Mom and Dad were happy and relieved. Ian's five big sisters were thrilled and excited. Grandma and Grandpa were happy, relieved, thrilled and excited. Grandma's plane set down at exactly 7:50 pm at the Des Moines airport. The Hershey's kindly picked her up and rushed her to the hospital so she could be with Emily in recovery. The girls also joined their brother and mom in the hospital.

Ian was in the hopital a few days to get a course of antibiotics. He was fine and went home. He had uv irradiated baby carrier for a few days to get his bilirubin counts down. (He was a "glow worm"). By July 4th he was fine. He sleeps a lot, but wakes up at night and needs to fed. Although Grandma is a big help, mom and dad are tired a lot. Mom and Ian got some sleep on the 4th while Dad took the girls off to celebrate.
